Julie and Joe became familiar with Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop when visiting the original location in Knoxville, TN.  They fell in love with the pies, the thumbprint cookies and, more importantly, loved the heart and soul of the brand.  Julie has always baked and recognizes baking is a science and ingredients matter.  Buttermilk Sky Pie uses the finest ingredients, just like Julie was taught years ago.

Julie and Joe have lived in seven cities in four states throughout their 35 years of marriage.  They were engaged in Destin and no matter where they were living, they always vacationed and spent summers on the Panhandle. They fell in love with the beaches and decided that as soon as they were able, they would retire here.  It was a natural choice to open their shop in Panama City Beach.  In fact, they moved to Florida in July of 2019 and opened the Pie Shop just a few months later.

After careers as a physician and a nurse, owning several small businesses, and raising a wonderful son, Conner, Julie and Joe are right back to where it all started.  If you have a minute, they will be happy to share stories of being travel baseball parents or show you a photo of their shop’s mascot, Oliver.  Julie’s favorite pie is our seasonal Lemon Icebox and Joe’s is Peanut Butter Cream.  They invite you to stop by, say “hi” and take home a delicious pie (or two).
